Virtual Workshop on Karyotyping techniques on 22.02.2021
Karyotyping is an essential test in the diagnosis of genetic diseases/disorders related to numerical or structural changes of chromosomes. Karyotyping can be carried out using samples â€“peripheral blood, bone marrow, prenatal (Chorionic villus sampling, Amniotic fluid and Cord blood), and products of conception etc. Now-a-days, the samples are cultured and processed for analysis in well-equipped laboratories with computerized karyotyping workstations and is currently being used for identification and detection of genetic diseases. The objective of this e-workshop is to give basic concept of preparation of karyotypes by using peripheral blood and their interpretation for clinical applications.
